What does being a member of 513 mean to Matt?

Becoming a member of Local 513 literally changed my life. Learning our craft gave me the tools to provide a life for my family that I could be proud of. Being a member of Local 513 gives us all the opportunity to be part of something larger than ourselves. It truly is one of the greatest honors of my life.

What does an Auditor do for 513?

It shall be the duty of the Auditors to audit the books and accounts of the Recording Corresponding Secretary, Financial Secretary, Treasurer, and any other officer or representative holding funds of the Local Union, at the end of the first official quarter each year and to report there on at the first meeting of the Local Union in the months of January, April, July, and October.

How did Matt get started with 513?

I was exposed growing up to many people who made their living working in the trades. Their hard work, skill and membership to their respective crafts afforded them a higher standard of living. I decided that I, too, wanted to learn a trade, which prompted me to enroll in the Local 513 apprenticeship program.

Some of Matt’s Accomplishments at 513:

As an Auditor of Local 513, I have worked to ensure that our Local continues to be a good steward of our member’s money. As a previous Election Commissioner, I helped oversee important contract votes and the supplemental dues increase, which will help to keep this Local strong for years to come. I also worked to certify the results of the 2018 general election.

Other Labor Positions Matt Holds:

  • Delegate to the Jefferson City/Columbia Building Trades
  • Delegate to the North Eastern Missouri Building Trades

  • Vice President of Membership to the Jefferson Democratic Club of Cole County.
