Higher wages, health benefits, safe working conditions and a secure retirement to look forward to. I am running for Rank-and-File Executive Board member because active participation is necessary to maintain a strong union that will ensure current and future members of Local 513 continue to have the same opportunities.”

What does being a member of 513 mean to Mike?
Being a member of Local 513 means being part of something larger than myself. There is a sense of pride driving by projects that I was part of building. I worked in the field for 32 years, primarily as a crane operator and that is still something I enjoy. I am fortunate to have worked for the training school for the last four years and I hope I have been able to teach our students about the job of an operator and what it means to be part of this local. It is not just a job. I am part of an organization that has introduced me to great people, who have taught me a lot.
What does an Executive Board member do for 513?
An Executive Board member approves and oversees the expenses of the union and participates in discussions about policies.
How did Mike get started with 513?
I started with an oilers card in 1985 then I graduated from the apprenticeship program in 1993.
Some of Mike’s Accomplishments at 513:
I do not think I can say what “I” have accomplished. We have a team in the hall. From going over the books as an auditor and as a Rank-and-File member of the E-Board, there are always other officers involved so I am happy to say I have been a part of the decisions made. We are all encouraged to voice our ideas and we all discuss any idea or issue that is brought up.
Other Labor Positions Mike Holds:
- Tri-County Labor Club Executive Board Member
Mike was born in St. Charles where he lives with his partner Dianne and their dogs, Walter and Cupid.
